Out Engineer designed an office fit-out for a new Hauppauge Workers’ Compensation Office. The building’s central air handling unit supplied air to variable air volume (VAV) boxes throughout the building. The proposed Workers’ Compensation Office had 27 dedicated VAV boxes and 6 split AC units to meet the heating, cooling, and ventilation requirements of the 22,000 square foot space.
Out Engineer performed load calculations for each proposed space in the office, and then zoned spaces together in configurations that could be properly conditioned by existing-to-remain equipment. Existing sections of ductwork were left in place to the greatest extent possible while still meeting the needs of the new office to minimize project cost.
Out Engineer also specified a new exhaust fan to run continuously to improve building pressurization. The project included minor repairs and maintenance to the six existing-to-remain condensing units. On the project documents, Out Engineer detailed all requirements associated with working with R22 refrigerant in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
