Project Profile

The Town of Franklin Square/Munson engaged Out Engineer to design a mechanical system upgrade for the Fire District. The project aimed to enhance the functionality and efficiency of the Fire District’s HVAC system to improve indoor air quality and occupant comfort.

The project included installation of a new, high-efficiency rooftop unit and associated VAV boxes to regulate airflows to the various spaces. The project also required a dedicated exhaust fan within the Ambulance Bay to prevent the buildup of unsafe levels of carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide.

To ensure proper operation of the various pieces of mechanical equipment serving the fire district, the project team designed a control system and wrote control sequences with an emphasis on energy saving strategies. The control sequences included an economizer cooling cycle, duct static pressure control, supply air temperature reset, and airflow recirculation. These control strategies meet or exceed the most stringent requirements specified in the 2020 NYS Energy Code.

Out Engineer designed cost effective and highly efficient mechanical systems that met the project budget and schedule goals.
